About Tamil Font Style — our mission and story

Tamil is one of the oldest living languages on Earth, with over 75 million native speakers worldwide. Yet for decades, working with stylish Tamil typography online has been awkward, fragmented and tied to legacy non-Unicode fonts that don't play well with modern phones, browsers and social media.

Why We Built Tamil Font Style

We noticed three big gaps in the Tamil font space:

  • No live Tamil font generator that uses real TTF rendering instead of fake Unicode tricks.
  • No easy migration path from legacy Bamini/Vanavil Tamil to modern Unicode.
  • No single place to download, preview and learn about the best free Tamil fonts.

So we built one. Tamil Font Style brings together 70+ open-source Tamil fonts, a live preview generator with per-card PNG/Transparent PNG/TTF actions, a Bamini ↔ Unicode converter, a full Tamil character map, and SEO-friendly information pages — all free, all under open licenses.

Our Principles

  • Free forever: No premium tier, no usage limits, no signups.
  • Respect for designers: Every font on this site is properly credited to its original designer and used under its declared open-source license.
  • Tamil-first design: Our UI, color palette and content prioritize the Tamil user experience — not a translated afterthought.
  • Real typography, not Unicode tricks: We render actual TrueType fonts in your browser. No Mathematical Bold substitution nonsense.
  • Accessibility: Dark mode, large click targets, keyboard navigation, semantic HTML.
